The most famous carpets from Afghanistan are Khal-Mohammadi and Aqcha Buchara & Erzarie. These Carpets are handwoven by the Turkomans in Villages and workshops in north Afghanistan, but also in Pakistan by fugitives who have crossed over the borders.

The carpets are mostly of medium size, with a repeating geometrical figure called a gul (Persian: “flower” or “rose”), guls are associated with specific groups. The rugs almost always have a rust-red field with black designs. The weavers also produce other trappings of the nomadic lifestyle, including tent bags and ceremonial pieces.
Various vegetable and other natural dyes are used to produce the rich colors. This Carpet is very durable, well worth its price.
For the warp-fringe, in the past they always used gray wool, while now they are also knotted on beige Cotton, which allows a clearer, denser weave and finer designs.
The most common design is the repetitive eight-star, while in sizes up to 3 square meters there is generally a greater variety of designs than the larger ones.
