Kazak 221 x 109
The handmade carpets' colors look different depending on the side you view the carpet from. This is because the pile of handmade carpets, in contrast to machine made carpets, is inclined so that the carpet has protection from dirt and wear. For a detailed view please click the images below..
The geometric designs are inspired by old Russian and Caucasian rugs which are now rarely made.
Today Kazak and Shirvan carpets are woven in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
At high KAZAK qualities hand-twisted wool is used (handspun wool) dyed with vegetable colours. Many times the selvage is double or triple, woven simultaneously with the carpet (that means it is not added at the end) making it more beautiful and durable.
The final finishing of the carpet is a special stone-wash, giving it a old look with more faded colours.
Kasak rugs look well in traditional, modern but also classic decorations.
They are woven in many qualities, visually similar, but with big differences in weaving and wool.
